- Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection. Review Standard and Strict; choose Strict if you can tolerate occasional site breakage.
- Visit sites you use frequently. If a feature fails, use the shield control to make a site-specific exception rather than disabling protection everywhere.
- Review location, camera, microphone and notification permissions. Remove permissions you no longer need.
- Open the extensions manager and remove unused extensions. Keep the browser’s automatic updates enabled.
Check the result
Open the shield panel on a visited site to inspect blocked activity. Confirm your essential sites still work and review exceptions periodically.
Limits
The panel only reports activity the browser recognises. Private windows do not hide your IP address or make logged-in activity anonymous.
